Charity
As a Social Entrepreneur, I’m committed to helping others in as many ways as I possibly can. Therefore, I have committed to giving 40% of each sale of this book to charities that support those getting into work and entrepreneurship, the ones I am hoping to work with are listed below, PLEASE NOTE THIS LIST MAY CHANGE and if you have a suggestion, please let me know. Each organisation has been carefully selected to match my own thoughts about empowerment and enabling people by giving them the euphemistic ‘fishing rod’.
So what does, 40% of each sale mean? Well, in short I will give 40% of the profits from the sales of this book however it is generated. I’m not choosing just one sales mechanism and therefore I’m not going to choose just one source of profits either. I’ll do regular posts about how many books have been sold and how much has been raised for each of the charities below.
What needs to be taken account of in the costs:
- Anything that the Inland Revenue requires because it’s a profit but less the tax incentives for giving to Charity !!!!!! Hurrah!!!!!!
- Costs for hosting, payment processing etc …. this shouldn’t be more than about £2,000 – if that! As I try to keep everything as cost effective as possible
- Affiliate referral fees – remember that anyone that sells this book as a result of an affiliate fee will be paid £1.00 per copy. This is likely to be the biggest outgoing
After all that, and the 40% to the charities listed below has been taken out of monies raised then pretty much most of the remainder will be ploughed back into my own Social Enterprise, The Hysterectomy Association. This has been online since 1996, helping thousands of women every year make more informed choices about their health and well-being.
BCCT
The British Consultancy Charitable Trust (BCCT) has as its primary aim the promotion and mentoring of sustainable enterprise, offering a full range of services to micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) through its volunteer advisers. They are also active in the field of Social Development, which is an area particularly close to my own heart.
KIVA
Kiva is an organisation that has been set up to promote entrepreneurship in developing countries. With simple loans, to micro businesses, it is possible to really make a difference and change lives in some of the poorest countries in the world. Profits that are shared with Kiva, will go to provide the funding needed for a number of different micro businesses and I’ll let you know who they are as they are included.
